The interaction of TNF with its trimeric receptor complex on a target cell, in this case an endothelial cell, is depicted and results in a conformational change in the receptor molecules as shown. This conformational change permits the attachment of a docking molecule, which then interacts an activates an enzyme resulting in an intracellular signal, nuclear activation, transcription and translation, and ultimately leading to the insertion of new adhesion molecules on the cell's surface. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
