Joints are the point of articulation between two or more bones. The bones provide a framework for the body, the skeleton, which is both rigid and segmental. Joints allow near frictionless movement. Joints work in concert with bones and the neuromuscular system to result in a wide variety of purposeful movement ranging from the intricate sophisticated beauty of a ballerina to the brut force of a martial artist.
